Beyond the Classroom:
Skills for Success
Magnify Education’s Beyond the Classroom program teaches professional skills that we all need, no matter what career we choose.
NOTE: Students taking this course on their own may be able to receive high school credit for this course. Please check with your school administration for more information, and contact us with questions.
Durable skills — those professional skills that we all need, no matter what career we intend to pursue, but which we often have to learn on our own – are key to building a strong foundation as you graduate from high school and move into the job market or higher education.
Unlike technical knowledge that can quickly become outdated, these skills transfer across industries, helping us all be more successful, now and in the future. Employers and colleges alike value individuals who can lead, listen, and work well with others, making durable skills a key factor in both immediate opportunities and long-term success.
Magnify’s Beyond the Classroom: Skills for Success takes you through a deep dive into the following seven durable skills:
- Identifying & Communicating Your Accomplishments
- Networking
- Interviewing
- Lifelong Learning
- Effective Communication
- The Fundamentals of Leadership
- Conflict Resolution
Beyond the Classroom helps prepare you to get – and smash! – that interview; jump into your
new job with confidence & success; and grow in your career to achieve your goals.
Expert info, work in a class or at your own pace
This program is designed to be used either as part of a class or by an individual. Instructor training is available.
Individual students without a teacher sponsor may work through Magnify Education.
The entire program will take 50 hours for the average student to complete. Modules may also be purchased individually.
As educators, we have a responsibility not only to prepare students academically, but also to ensure they are ready for life beyond the classroom. Teaching durable skills—like networking, communication, interviewing, and conflict resolution—equips our students with the tools they need to thrive in college, in their careers, and in their communities. These skills never go out of date; they give our graduates the confidence and capacity to succeed no matter what path they choose."

Module one
Identifying Your Accomplishments
It can be hard to recognize what you’re accomplished – and even harder to talk about it. Here you will learn how to identify accomplishments that will highlight who you are and what you can do, taking you on the first step of tis career skills journey.
Module TWO
Networking
Your network is an asset – but most people avoid networking because they don’t know how to do it effectively. This module will teach you strategies and skills to use networking to your advantage at every stage of your career.
Module tHREE
Interviewing
Interviewing sounds easy – it’s just answering questions about yourself, right? Well … yes, but no. A skilled interviewee directs the conversation as much as the interviewer, ensuring the key points they want to share are discussed and remembered.
Module four
Lifelong Learning
To continue to progress in your career, it’s important to continue learning. But how do you do that when you’re no longer in a school setting? It’s actually easy with the right mindset, and you’ll find yourself enjoying the process and moving yourself forward in your career.
Module Five
Effective Communication
Most people approach communication as what they want the other person to know. We flip that on its head and look at how you ensure you are providing the other person with what THEY need to know. This helps work and relationships flow smoothly and successfully.
Module six
The Fundamentals of Leadership
There are so many leadership models – but our opinion is you can never learn enough about the topic. Since we’re each unique, we can find “gems” in every model, creating our own system for leadership success. Join us in learning our unique take on successful leadership approaches.
Module seven
Conflict Resolution
Differences of opinion are inevitable – but conflict doesn’t have to be. The more quickly you can identify when conflict is starting, and the more seamlessly you can address the situation, the more successful you’ll be in achieving your – and your company’s – goals.
